I have installed the trial version of the Japanese word processor 5.25, but when I run it it doesn't appear. It is running in the background, but there is no window and no button on the taskbar. I have uninstalled and reinstalled multiple times, and I still have this problem. I am using Windows Vista 32bit. Please advise, thank you.

We found it is most likely that your Anti-Virus may have blocked it.

Which Anti-Virus software are you using? McAfee, Norton ?

Please test with Anti-Virus closed or disabled.

There are few users that have this problem, but all solved by change Anti-Virus setting to allowing NJStar to run.

Please let us know your feed back.

The same is happening with Chinese WP and anti-virus software (AVAST in my case) is not blocking NJ Star Ch. WP - I tried to turn it off and start NJ Star Chinese WP - result the same.
OS: Vista Business

Hi, It seems that the latest version 5.25.9518 has the problem under certain conditions. Please help us locate the problem by testing if there was a problem in older versions as listed here.

Please reboot you PC or Terminate all NJSTAR.exe processes in Windows Tesk Manager (press CTRL+ALT+DEL) before test another one. Please report which version does NOT have the problem.

Thank you for narrow down the bug. Please help me with more test.

1. install 5.21.7018 and 5.20.61218 in different folder

2. copy following files from 5.21.7018 to 5.20.61218 folder one by one and then test if it will open the window by running NJSTAR.exe in 5.20.61218 folder

1) njstar.exe
2) njedit.dll
3) njtxtout.dll
4) njdbcs.dll

Stop if one file cause the problem, and tell me which one.

In this way we can narrow down to one file that causing the problem.

Ok, now we know the bug is in njstar.exe.

I have made 5 njstar.exe named njstar[1-5].exe
please extract the 5 njstarx.exe into the latest v5.25.9518
and test each of them, and let me know it works or not.

Thanks for the testing result. Now we know that the bug is only in one function.

To find out what's wrong inside the function, I have made another 5 njstar.exe.
Please test each of the exe in the NJStar525Fix2.zip. and let me know the result.

http://ftp.njstar.com/sw/NJStar525Fix2.zip

This is the last test before we release the final fix.

Hi Nekomancer & terlinkin,

Please test the files in my last post.

Both Japanese WP and Chinese WP will be fixed after this test.

Please extract NJStar525Fix2.zip into the latest version 5.25.9518, and test which njstar2x.exe can open it's Window correctly.

Please run from njstar21.exe to njstar25.exe. If njstar21.exe works, it will be the final fix.

Hi, Terlinkin,

Please help finishing the tests in NJStar525Fix2.zip, so we can finally fix the problem. Otherwise we can not fix the problem because we do not know exactly what is wrong.

Please let me know the test result ASAP.

moreover everytime there is one little bug - some context menu have unreadable characters, for example when closing program we have system request "do you want to save changes in Doc1" and instead of Yes\No\Cancel we can see abra-kadabra.

Ok! The njstar21.exe is the final fix for the original 'no window' problem.
The bug is on calls to set windows titlebar font to Chinese.

About new problem. Please send a screen capture of unreadable characters to
njsupport @ njstar.com

Is your Windows English or Rusian version?

Hello. Unfortunately I am still having this problem with the Japanese word processor. I am sorry for not following up the last time. I ended up finding version 5.20 which worked for me. However I have purchased a new computer with the 64bit Windows Vista operating system. I still have the same problem, with the program running but not appearing in the window, using the latest version of NJStar Japanese word processor on the download site. Thank you.

It should be the latest version, because it's what I downloaded directly from NJStar before posting this. Currently I am using 5.20 because it will run on my PC.
